As far as I can tell I have an oil leak around my valve cover on my '08 Outlander Max 800. See attached pics. I read on another post that sometimes it isn't just a bad gasket when this happens but the valve cover itself can warp so I figured I'd replace the valve cover and gasket. (Doesn't look like the valve cover is too costly).

The low number would really depend where you live and the cold temps that you encounter. Can-Am probably uses a 0W40 as it ships world wide. 2010 800 Can-Am Max XT-P. HPG's up front.
